I’ve installed HTML Executable 4.8 and republished my ebook file, but when I click on the EXE to open it I get this error message: “The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.” Older versions of the ebook still open without any problems. Please advise.
It’s a tricky bug. It’s because the manifest embedded in EXE files since version 4.8 doesn’t bear a correct product or version number.
Make sure the values in your project of the two fields highlighted on the screenshot below must be in x.x.x.x format (4 dots).
Next build of HTMLEXE will properly check for this version info format.
