Allow Edit Range Excel function no longer secure when using 2022.1

While traveling, developing with Excel 365 (instead of Excel 2019).
Applied edit ranges and protected worksheet.
Ranges definitely remain password protected in xlsm.
Created .exe
User is able to edit all ranges without any password.

This is serious because it removes an important level of security at the end user level. Distribution is on hold until resolution.

I created a simple spreadsheet a couple of edit ranges. You will notice that a password is required in the protected version. However, the compiled version drops the edit range security.

Was enabled … NOw I can’t seem to reproduce the error on a test version when I use xlsm. Workbook and Worksheets are protected. Passwords redacted for this image.

Trying to get the Edit Ranges to work. It works if I don’t change a single edit range in the spreadsheet. One change and the compiled version fails to protect all ranges.

Is there a limit on the number of worksheets in a workbook?

Is there a limit on the number of edit ranges in a particular worksheet?

Is it possible that a 9/25/2022 Excel update could be the culprit?

Still cannot reproduce the problem with the option “Use Excel automation” enabled. It works as expected. Try to keep the desktop version of Excel to make changes to your workbook source file.
Tested with Excel 365 2509 build 15269

I’m on Version 2209, build 15629.20156.

Should I change to another version? If so, need your assistance on what to try. Will try anything. Spent 3 days on this problem.

Hello,

I was able to reproduce the problem in a simple manner with a workbook with no VBA code, edit ranges, several worksheets, etc. Need a secure way to send the workbook and compile parameters to you.

You can zip them, password protect the Zip and upload them to https://wetransfer.com
This is a free file hosting service: after upload, they will give you a URL. Please send us this URL so that we can download the Zip archive. And the password on our ticket system or with PM.

Sent.

Two xlsm files. Two .exe files. Included configuration.

I need an e-mail to send the passwords to.
