Uploading an exe file into product on wordpress?

Hi guys,

I have trawled the internet and this forum to try find an answer for this. My problem is i cannot add my exe file to any of my products on my WordPress website.

WordPress currently does not allow exe files, Zip files or rar files to be uploaded.

As a work around i have tried to link to the exe on dropbox but when i try open the download from the test product i get the following error

“the archive is either in unknown format or damaged”

Any idea how i can get the exe file to successfully attached to my products?

You can either zip your EXE file (it’s no problem nowadays, since Windows handles Zip archives natively) or you can use a WordPress plugin to allow EXE files for download. See https://www.monsterinsights.com/how-to-allow-wordpress-to-upload-all-file-types/ for instance

Another approach might be to upload your product to a download website like Major Geeks https://www.majorgeeks.com/, and then provide a link to that site.
