In XLS padlock –Application Key Generator page – is it possible to have 2 different passwords for 2 different Expiration dates? Something to act like a USER & ADMIN password. The USER password can expire on the selected date, but an ADMIN password allows the file to be opened and continue to be used if required. Or is there any other way to reopen a file that has expired?
XLS Padlock does not natively support assigning two different passwords for two different expiration dates (i.e., one for a standard User and another Admin bypass password) directly within the Application Key Generator.
However, here are a few workarounds or solutions to achieve a similar result:
1) You can use the Key Generator to create two different activation keys:
USER Key: Set with an expiration date (e.g., 30 days).
ADMIN Key: Set with no expiration or a much longer period.
Then, distribute each key accordingly.
2) Even if a file has expired for one user, you can still reactivate it by:
Issuing a new activation key with updated settings.
Having the user enter the new key in the activation dialog (if enabled) or with the -enterkey command line switch.
